AArP staff members are ecstatic to receive book suggestions from UBC faculty, students and staff at any time of the year. Please be sure to check the Library’s Catalogue to make sure we don’t already have the book in our collection before submitting a request.

Please provide us with the following: a) title; b) author; c) year of publication; and d) the ISBN. Feel free to tell us why you think the title would make a great addition to our collection. New Database: Material ConneXion

Material ConneXion is an online database that provides access to information on materials including images, detailed material descriptions, usage characteristics, and manufacturer and distributor contact information, through a simple, non-technical search interface. It is currently comprised of more than 4,500 samples of innovative materials and processes – and growing at a rate of more than 40 materials per month. The content provided is complete enough to satisfy an engineer or scientist who is expert in materials, yet user-friendly enough to benefit the architect and designer who is not.

Catalogue Raisonnés in the AArP Reference Section

The AArP reference section features many catalogue raisonnés which are comprehensive studies of an artist’s or architect’s complete oeuvre. These items often provide illustrations of every work the artist produced, along with information about the work’s provenance, dimensions and media, exhibition history, and more. Exhibition in Art + Architecture + Planning, UBC Library

An exhibition guest curated by David Bellman and Meirion Cynog Evans is on display in the Art + Architecture + Planning Division at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. Close Connections: A Bibliographic Exhibition showcases Lucy Lippard’s unorthodox catalogue for 955,000—an exhibition that opened at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1970, along with other notable works reflecting the production of key international artists. The exhibition is part of a Collective for Advanced and Unified Studies in the Visual Arts (CAUSA) research project highlighting resources held in Vancouver’s local art libraries and archives.

Close Connections: A Bibliographic Exhibition runs until November 12, 2011, and is located on level three of the north wing of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.

LUNA is a digital library of over 300,000 images licensed for educational use at UBC covering the areas of art, architecture, and material culture. Images span ancient history through the present, and cover a number of cultures and geographic areas.
